Dear MMNP Members,

The following members have decided to run for MMNP offices. Please review their Vitas in consideration of the upcoming elections. Also, with Megan Drew running for President-Elect, the position for Program Chairperson will soon be open. Please read the following description of the Program Chairperson and consider running for this position in the near future. Please e-mail me @ michelle.lutchen@takecarehealth.com with any questions regarding this position.

Program Chairperson. The Program Chair shall be responsible for arranging educational program, orchestrating the meetings and soliciting and gathering program evaluations, and disseminating related information to the membership. Industry sponsored program announcements may be posted through the program chair to the list serve. These programs may not compete with MMNP programs.

Nominations:

President-Elect

Megan Drew

Megan Drew has been a member of the MMNP since she was a student in graduate school at Marquette University. During her time in school it was impressed upon her the importance of taking an active role in organizations that supported the NP role and that by being involved you could help to shape the future of the NP. After several years of being an active member, in August 2010 the Program Chair position suddenly became vacant and needed filled and she stepped into the role. Since taking over Program Chair, there have been a multitude of "filled to capacity" educational dinner events on a variety of topics with speakers from various backgrounds and educations. Although Megan has thoroughly enjoyed working as the Program Chair, she is now ready for the greater challenge of President Elect and hopes she has the opportunity to work within this role.

Megan graduated from Marquette University with her BSN in 2003 and then worked as a Staff Nurse as well as Charge Nurse on a Med/Surg/Ortho unit for 3 years at St. Francis Hospital before switching to a pool position on a Med/Surg unit at Oconomowoc Hospital while she finished her MSN at Marquette University. In 2007, Megan finished her Masters degree and took a position with Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center, S.C., currently located in Greenfield, WI. She has been working there for the past four year while also starting her family and raising her two little girls.

Secretary

Jon Hoffmann

I have been an RN since 1982. My career started in critical care where I remained for the next 27 years. I have been an ICU staff nurse, a patient care manager of an ICU, a house supervisor in a 700 bed hospital, and have done both Hyperbaric and agency nursing on the side. I obtained both my undergraduate and my Masters degrees from Concordia University Wisconsin. I became an NP in 2007 and have been working in the retail clinic setting since February of 2008 and am a clinic Coordinator. I joined MMNP in 2008 and have been the Secretary for the past 2 years.

Secretary

Laurie Whorley, MSN, APNP, BC-ADM, CDE

Laurie has been an adult nurse practitioner with the Medical College of Wisconsin since 2006. She is an established practitioner at Sargeant Internal Medicine, specializing in adult diabetes management. While developing her patient practice, she also is a preceptor with several local graduate nursing programs taking 1-2 students per semester. While earning her MSN at Marquette University, Laurie became an active member of MMNP in 2005. During her advanced studies, she found it important to further her involvement in the professional developing the nurse practitioner role. She would like to expand this role as becoming the secretary for MMNP. Further ideas for expanding the organization include a journal club, and supporting the teaching roles of advanced practice nurses.
