Unique Nurse Practitioner Opening in SE WI

Posted about 5 years ago by Jeana Holt

I have run a flourishing solo, independent allergy practice in Greenfield for the past 16 years that continues to do well despite the increasing challenges to independent practice in our region. After the sudden, unexpected death of a solo allergist in Racine, I am absorbing that clinic as a southern satellite of my practice, and will no longer be able to do all the work myself (finally!). Thus, I’m looking for the right nurse practitioner to help me take this practice to the next level. This is a challenging, unique, and deeply rewarding career opportunity for the right person!
The Racine practice was seeing patients two days a week due to a variety of obstacles that have been obviated. I anticipate rapidly growing this practice, hopefully, to become full time by the end of the year. For now, I am looking for an individual willing to do on the job training in allergy care, working on Tuesdays with the RN in the Racine office rooming new patients, taking histories, doing skin testing, performing lung function testing, and participating in the assessment and treatment plan with me, during which the NP will be introduced to the new patient as the prescriber who will be providing follow-up care. I will remain available as a resource as needed and will be available to see complicated followups on Tuesdays. Routine follow-ups and acute care, along with supervision of allergy injections, will be provided by the nurse practitioner on Thursdays or Fridays.
I recognize that it is a usual ask for someone to start work two days a week, and remain available to increase hours along with the expansion of the clinic. To solve that problem, and since I need another nurse in the Greenfield office, I can offer work for the other three days of the week helping with patient care. This should be viewed as an additional opportunity to speed training and competence in allergy and asthma care, and could potentially develop into seeing patients independently for part of the time in Greenfield as well. I do expect that working as a team with a nurse practitioner will be received very well by patients, and expect that that will grow the practice in ways I cannot anticipate, hopefully expanding the opportunities for the nurse practitioner.
Understanding that training in specialty care requires a huge investment of time and resources, I am expecting that people who are not yet at that point in their career at which they know that they want to stay in outpatient respiratory medicine will not apply. At the same time, I understand that things change, so there is no contract for a minimum number of years or anything like that. But I am not looking for someone who simply wants to try it out for a few months to see if it sticks.
So if you’re the right person for the job - you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves to help work hard to build this practice as a member of the team - I look forward to hearing from you!
